Welcome to the first e-newsletter from the South Asian Heart Center — the first organization in the world to address the high incidence of coronary artery disease among South Asians, a population that is at four times greater risk than others for coronary heart disease.

As we near our Fall 2005 launch, we are pleased to announce that Los Altos Hills resident, Malini Alles, founder of Stree: Global Investments for Women Foundation, has donated $1 million to the South Asian Heart Center. Alles’ donation is the first major gift received by the center.
We have also received great media coverage from all the major publications covering the South Asian population in the U.S. including the San Jose Mercury news, a major Bay Area newspaper. Please read the articles below to discover the exciting news about our recent funding and how lives are changing — for the better.
And finally, we are pleased to announce our website which will be launching at the end of August at www.southasianheartcenter.org .  We look forward to your visit.
